A practical introduction into applying the tools and techniques of the science communication trade for engaging non-specialists with your research. From chatting in the pub to dealing with the media & live audiences, this course is an essential survival kit for researchers and academics contributing to the Public Engagement with Science. It also a first stepping stone for those considering a career in this profession.
The course is presented by TV science communicator Tom Pringle (AKA Dr Bunhead from Brainiac) who has trained researchers, academics and teachers around the world for over a decade.
In this course we cover:
1) Simple not simplistic
How to simplify complex ideas whilst protecting their scientific integrity.
2) Adding spice
How to enliven dry science with creative interpretation.
3) Going Live
How to present your research to a live audience - the public, the media or to camera.
