James Watt's Birthday Celebration

As you may know, the Watt Club is believed to be the oldest alumni association in the UK. Its formation was proposed in 1854 when it was suggested at a dinner in the Guildford Arms that a club should be formed ‘whose object would be to sup together on the anniversary of the birth of James Watt’. The club duly met on the 20 January 1855 in the Café Royal.
A recreation of this first ever gathering of the Watt Club in 1855 is taking place on Tuesday, 19 January. Details are noted below:

Price: £40 per person (includes three course meal and a half bottle of wine)
Speaker: Professor Roland Paxton, Civil Engineering Historian will speak about James Watt and his achievements.

The venue capacity is limited to 40 people and tickets are expected to sell out fast please book your ticket promptly.
It is hoped that there will be a few interesting artefacts on display, connected to James Watt and of the first meeting of the Watt Club. If you arrive early to the event then there will be informal drinks in the nearby Guildford Arms from 6pm.
