Calum Robb named ‘Sportsman of the Year’
Calum Robb, second year PhD student, has won the prestigious ‘Sportsman of the Year’ award at the British Universities and Colleges Sports (BUCS) Inaugural Conference and Awards Ceremony at Keele University.
Other elite athletes on the ‘short list’ provided stiff opposition, but Calum received the most votes and was honoured with the award which was presented by Steve Parry, the former swimmer and sports commenter. John Inverdale the sports commentator was the Host for the evening.
Calum was delighted to receive this award. "I am proud and honoured to be the first recipient of the BUCS prestigious ‘Sportsman of the Year’ award. It is always nice when other people outwith karate acknowledge your achievements and commitment. I am also pleased for Heriot Watt University, the Sports Union, and Scottish Universities Sport, who have all played their part in helping me get this award, and provide ongoing support to me to enable me to compete at the highest level."
