Posthumous Diploma awarded

A small, private ceremony was held on 14 December at the Edinburgh Campus to award a posthumous Diploma in Higher Education to one of our students.

Jamie Battison, from Coldingham in the Scottish Borders, had completed his second year of a Combined Studies programme, majoring in Mechanical Engineering, when he tragically died in August 2011.

The Diploma of Higher Education was presented by the Principal, Professor Steve Chapman and accepted by Jamie’s parents, James and Karen Battison. Several members of Jamie's family also attended the event, including his sister, brother and all four grandparents. Some of Jamie’s university friends also attended.
